Plaintiff:
Lavontay Zeigler
Incident date:
10/14/2015
Location:
5091 W. Washington Blvd.
Allegations:
Zeigler was hanging out with a group of young people when Officers Muntean and Holes arrived, their weapons fully visible. Zeigler and the others scattered after seeing the officers approach them. One of the officers tased Zeigler, who was then run over by a police car after he fell to the ground. Zeigler was taken to the hospital, and afterward the officers charged him with possession of marijuana and reckless conduct, claiming he had thrown himself in front of the car. The drug charge was dropped and Zeigler was acquitted of reckless conduct at a bench trial. After Zeigler's trial, the officers retaliated and had Zeigler arrested for not appearing at traffic court in another county.
