Plaintiff:
Maurice Fulson
Incident date:
03/29/2014
Location:
1716 E. 87th St.
Allegations:
Fulson was at his business in the Calumet Heights neighborhood when Officer Robinson arrived and began to argue with him about an incident down the street. Fulson had no connection to the incident and had not committed a crime but was taken into custody and put in a squad car as officers searched his business without a warrant. Officers claimed to have found contraband. As a result, Robinson and Officers Kasput, Vazquez, Venegas and Murzyn charged Fulson with criminal drugs and firearms charges. Fulson, a diabetic, was taken to a police station for processing, but was not given the insulin he repeatedly told officers he needed. Eventually an ambulance was called for Fulson. He was detained in jail for two months, and the charges were later dismissed.
