Mims was arrested and thrown to the ground by the arresting officers. He complained of severe pain to his arm while on the ground and at a police station where he was detained. Officers at the station ignored Mims' continued complaints and threatened to file more criminal charges if he did not stop. Mim's injury required multiple surgeries to his elbow.
