Plaintiff:
Shantavia McCurdy
Incident date:
07/03/2014
Location:
319 N. Lotus Ave.
Allegations:
McCurdy was at her aunt's home with her husband and mother when Officer Reina and other police officers entered the home. The officers, who were dressed in plain clothes, came into the home to execute a search warrant, and ordered everyone to go into the front room with their hands up. The officers then searched the apartment. When McCurdy asked to see a search warrant, Reina replied, "B***h, we don't need to show you a motherf***ing warrant." One of the officers took McCurdy's husband to the back of the house, and eventually Reina showed McCurdy a search warrant. He then slammed his fist down on a glass table, shattering it, before pulling McCurdy up violently by one arm and forcing her out the door. Reina took McCurdy to a police station and charged her with obstructing a peace officer. McCurdy was found not guilty.
