Allegations:
Haynes and a friend were standing outside when a man approached them with a gun and tried to rob them. Haynes and his friend struggled to get free, and Haynes was able to grab the man's gun. Haynes ran toward Officers Waldbuesser and Kahn, who were in the area, and told them he had just been robbed but had managed to take the gun. Instead of looking for the robber, the officers arrested Haynes and charged him with unlawful possession of a handgun. They also detained Haynes' friend for several minutes, but eventually allowed him to leave. Haynes spent about 30 days in jail for the false arrest before he was found not guilty during a trial 10 months later.
