Allegations:
Evans was employed as a security guard at a convenience store. He received a call from his employer that the convenience store's alarm system had activated and to go see what had happened. When he arrived, he saw that the front window had been broken. He entered through the broken window to investigate. As he left the store, Officers Gasca and Kochran arrested him, even though he told them he was a security guard investigating the break-in. The officers reviewed the surveillance tape that showed Evans entering the store after the robbery took place, but Officer Lonski testified that he spoke with the store's owner, who told him Evans didn't work there. Evans was incarcerated for four months until a bench trial. After the store's owner testified at trial that Evans was an employee who had permission to investigate the robbery, prosecutors dropped the charges.
