Allegations:
While in their police car, two officers heard shots fired and spotted a black male with a shotgun on the roof of a building. The officers entered the rooftop and found Beard, who did not have a gun. Beard was arrested and charged for unlawful possession of a handgun. The gun that Beard was charged with possessing was owned by a different individual, who later identified himself to officers as the owner of the gun. Despite this knowledge, the officers kept Beard in custody and reported that he owned the gun. Beard was tried and found not guilty of the charges almost 9 months after the incident.
