Officers Wozniak and Walczak approached Mulosmani, searched him and arrested him without legal basis. The officers were conducting field interviews of gang members. Mulosmani was accused of endangering the bodily safety of pedestrians in the street by displaying gang signs and slogans. He displayed the American Sign Language sign for “I love you” and said "King love" to a member of the Latin Kings who was driving by. He was prosecuted for reckless conduct and taken to a juvenile facility due to his parole violation. He was found not guilty.
