Case 11-CV-732

$100,000

FALSE ARREST

Destroy/conceal/fabricate evidence Retaliation Witness manipulation False arrest or report Weapons charges Other charges filed

Plaintiff: Juan Booker

Incident date: 12/28/2006

Allegations:

In December 2006, Booker was charged for the murder of a man earlier that year. The officers worked together to implicate Booker in a crime he did not commit to retaliate against his older brother, who had sued several police officers for excessive force, and to prevent Juan from testifying on behalf of his brother. Officers Brogan, Marley, Murray and Vovos manipulated, coached, threatened or coerced witnesses to implicate Booker as the murderer. The falsified statements were the only evidence linking Booker to the murder. He was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was released from Cook County Jail in October 2010 when he was found not guilty of the charges.
