Allegations:
At 3:30 a.m, two men who work for a repossession company rang the Bakers' doorbell and asked for Baker's daughter. The repo men had visited the Bakers' home several times in the preceding weeks. Baker told the men to leave. A few minutes later, Officers Lindgren and Vera arrived, saying one of the men claimed Baker had threatened him with a gun. After several officers arrived at the house, the man told them Baker did not pull a gun on him. However, the officers decided to enter the home and detain the four family members while they searched their home. A male officer took Barbara Baker into one of the bedrooms to ask her about the car the two men had mentioned; she objected because she was in her pajamas. Baker showed the officers his FOID card and told them he owned a shotgun, which the officers found under a mattress. Sergeant Martin told Baker that if he told the two men where his daughter lived they wouldn't arrest him. But after further questioning, the officers decided to arrest him. The officers arrested Baker on charges of aggravated assault and having an expired registration for his shotgun. The charges were ultimately dismissed.
