Allegations:
D.J., who was 16 at the time, was walking home when police drove up next to him in a marked SUV. Officer Gando pointed a gun at D.J. and ordered him to the ground. D.J. immediately got down on the sidewalk, but Gando began kicking him on his side, stomped on the side of his face, ground his face into the pavement with his foot, and twisted his arms behind his back. Officer Ballard watched but didn't intervene. The officers took D.J. to the police station and charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting an officer. D.J. was then transferred to the Juvenile Detention Center but was not allowed to talk with his mother, who had come to the detention center. The charges against D.J. were dismissed.
