Allegations:
Between 2007 and 2009, Johnson was falsely charged with possession of illicit drugs by Officer Beckman on two occasions. The first incident occurred in September 2007 as Johnson was walking in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. Beckman strip-searched Johnson, pulling down his pants and underwear, while Officer Granville held him. Beckham falsely claimed to find six bags of cocaine on Johnson. The officer arrested Johnson and charged him with possession of cocaine. Johnson spent nearly five months in Cook County Jail until he was granted a motion to quash the arrest and suppress evidence. The second incident took place in March 2009. Beckman again approached, stopped and arrested Earl, accusing him of holding five bags of heroin. He spent more than two months in jail and lost his employment as a result. The case was later dismissed.
