Plaintiff:
Keith J. Hardiman
Incident date:
09/23/2007
Location:
1230 N. Burling St.
Allegations:
Hardiman was arrested at an apartment building on suspicion of criminal trespass and taken to a police station. There, his right hand was chained to a wall and he lay on a concrete bench. After refusing to give his name and address to two officers, Officer Jimenez entered the room to question Hardiman. When Hardiman remained silent, Jimenez kicked Hardiman's right side, sending Hardiman to the ground. Jimenez punched Hardiman in the left eye before telling two other detainees they should talk to Hardiman or he'd “get more of what [he] just got.” Another officer called the Office of Professional Standards, and a representative came and took Hardiman to a hospital. Hardiman received an X-ray and treatment for his eye. Hardiman's case was dismissed with leave to reinstate should new evidence arise.
