Allegations:
Nixon spent more than three years in jail after police forced him to confess to a 2004 murder he did not commit. The victim was found shot to death on a sidewalk in the University Village neighborhood. Two months later, Officers Nallen, Fowler, Nielsen and Little arrested Nixon in the same neighborhood where the death occurred, and took him to a police station. For more than 30 hours, Nixon, who repeatedly asked for a lawyer, was physically abused and threatened by Det. Hermann, Swiderek, Deenihan and the four officers until he falsely confessed to the murder. Police had Nixon rehearse the confession and then recorded it in the presence of an assistant state's attorney. Nixon was found not guilty in June 2007.
