Plaintiff:
Freddie Latrice Wilson
Incident date:
11/13/2007
Location:
16 N. Lorel Ave.
Allegations:
Wilson was driving near West Madison Street and North Lorel Avenue when officers pulled him over for a broken headlight. During the traffic stop, Wilson reached to make a call on his cellphone. At some point, one of the officers shouted "gun,” falsely indicating to the other officers that Wilson had a gun, even though he was unarmed. Officers Santiago, Vidljinevic and Deleon collectively fired 24 shots at Wilson, 18 of which struck his body, killing him. The officers planted a gun outside Wilson's car and conspired to create a false account of the incident to explain how the gun ended up outside of the car, claiming that Santiago knocked the gun out of Wilson's hand using his flashlight.
